Para el lunes 30 de marzo: Ex 9.5, ILRN, prep for assessment

Para el lunes 30 de marzo:

Today we are going to continue working with imperfect tense and contrast it to preterit tense. Remember, these are both past tenses, so we need to learn why we choose one over the other.

For Monday, you need to:

  • Do exercise 9.5 on p.293 in Exploraciones. This asks you to answer several questions to "plan" a celebration. The instructions say to work in groups, but you are working individually to plan a party. Please bring your answers to class on Monday. We will use those as a basis for talking about a celebration that happened - meaning we'll use your plans to then pretend the party took place and describe the event in the past. This will illustrate how we work with both imperfect and preterit to narrate in the past.
  • Do ILRN activities as assigned.
  • Read back over the instructions for Assessment 3. I am making a slight modification in the theme of the assessment, but not in the instructions. Instead of reading and writing about a celebration, you will read about someone's childhood and then write about your own past experiences.
The assessment will happen in class on Wednesday, April 1.
